My only brother, my sole sibling, my rock and my inspiration - Kevin Scott White - passed away unexpectedly in late October 2012 at the age of 38. Kevin was living at my parents' Estero, FL home while attending Florida Gulf Coast University, where he was finally thriving - earning straight A's and loving life as he shared the story of his hard-won sobriety with others in recovery. Kevin's infectious laughter, hunger to learn new things, artistic passion, and genuine desire to help disabled or older adults was a true gift to those around him.
There is simply no way to express how much Kevin will be missed.
To keep Kevin's positive energy and desire to help others alive, my family has established the Kevin S. White Memorial Art Scholarship Endowed Fund at Florida Gulf Coast University to help college students pursue a career in art.
We hope that you will consider donating to the Memorial Art Scholarship. The family decided against a service, preferring to grieve in private. But if you are the praying type, your prayers are appreciated. If you are the hugging type, we like hugs. Even if you can't get to mom, dad, or me, be sure to hug someone you love and tell them how they make your world better.
Love and Peace,
Debbie (White) Groebner
Kevin and Debbie on a family vacation in Orlando, 1989. Torture for everyone. On the back, Mom wrote "A Fun Time at MGM. '89."
After I posted this picture yesterday, Mom emails: "Love the picture of you two. Was telling someone about that picture this week. At the time, it was not my favorite one as you well know."
She cracks me up. - DSWG 11/13/2014
